The Organizing Committee of the 2011 Ride for SickKids thanks all those who contributed to the success of our third annual event. What a huge success!!! When we saw the first motorcycle roll in before 7:15 at Mackie’s, we knew we were in for a good turnout. And by the time “TV Boy Joe Tilley” yelled out “Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines!!!”, we had registered close to 400 riders. Highlights included Madison’s success story, our SickKids Ambassador. We were touched by her warmth and ever-positive spirit. The police escorted ride provided all those who joined us with a great scenic tour of the GTA’s east end bringing us to Port Perry with great food, great entertainment, and good times had by all. The winner of the 2011 HD Nightster was Mr. Allan Johnson, whose story was particularly interesting. Allan was virtually in tears alongside his brother who rode in from Pennsylvania. You see, Allan’s son was a SickKids patient…up until Sunday, when he received his last successful treatment for cancer and was sent home to continue what we all hope is going to be a long and healthy life. Cheers to the SickKids Team, to the Committee, and all those who helped make this year’s event a wonderful success!
